The 10 session Hebrew Foundations series will begin today after the morning service (about 11:20 a.m.). The class will be called Bible Stories in Context. The class is open to everyone and will meet in the Fellowship Hall. Notebooks will be provided. Familiar Bible stories (OT and NT) will be read and studied with context issues discovered. For example, what would be the significance of David cutting off a bottom portion of King Saul's garment in a cave by En Gedi? Context lenses will be identified throughout this study. This should be a fascinating discovery of how using western cultural lenses for interpreting Scripture can sometimes be a problem in understanding middle eastern and even Mediterranean culture.
