Rev. Matt Royston, Pastor

matt@millwoodpc.org

I originally come from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I grew up attending Bower Hill Presbyterian Church. College took me to the University of Montana in Missoula where I branched out some when it comes to denominational affiliation but after a few years, found myself most connected again to the Presbyterian church in that community. I met my wife Holly during that time and we were married after college. We lived in Seattle where I was in the business world for about ten years. We welcomed our first two children (Kellyn and Andrew) and were participating in the life of Bethany Presbyterian. It was during this time that we felt a specific call to pastoral ministry. I began seminary in 2007 and finished in 2010. Our third kiddo, Hannah joined us and our family was completed just prior to finishing seminary and taking our first call. We have served congregations in Alaska and Colorado. We are excited to be here in Millwood and find it to be an amazing "small town in the middle of a city!” As far as other interests go, I enjoy cross country skiing, mountain biking, running, and also help coach wrestling and football at West Valley High School.

Sam Cobb, Youth Director

Born and raised in Redmond, WA, I grew up in a close-knit family of four. We attended a small, local church, and it was here that God first pursued my heart.

Once graduating high school in 2015, I attended Whitworth University & earned a degree in Theology with an emphasis in Global Christianity. Having discovered a love for ministry, God’s call on my life has brought me to a variety of churches, both near and far. I’ve had the opportunity to serve at congregations in western Montana; as a youth intern at Whitworth Church; as a Parish Assistant in Aberdeen, Scotland; and even take part in a church plant locally in Spokane.

It is my great joy to have found a new home here in Millwood! Outside of my work, I love adventuring in the woods, exploring new places with friends, and curling up with a good book & a cup of tea. Above all, I am passionate about walking alongside students as they discover God’s love and grow into the people He has made them to be.

Don’t be a stranger - I would love to meet you & hear your story!

Thank you! -Sam

Rocky Abbott, Children’s Ministry Director

I was born and raised in California where I graduated from Reedley college and studied Christian Education at Fresno Pacific College in the degree completion program. I have been working with children since 1987, first in daycare centers, then as a teacher at Clovis Christian school.  We moved to Idaho in 2005 where I opened “Rocky’s House”, a Christian preschool through 5th grade home school program.  The program was very structured and offered a variety of services that not only taught children how to read and write, but more importantly, who Jesus Christ is and what it means to know and love Him. I came to Millwood Community Church in November of 2018 and feel so blessed to be working with the children and teaching them about our Lord and Savior.

Christy, Office Manager

admin@millwoodpc.org

Hi, I’m Christy! I’ve been part of the Millwood family since 2004, serving as the Office Manager and taking on a variety of roles along the way. My work here keeps me on my toes—one day I might be running sound and audio for VBS, and the next, I could be helping the Fire Marshal with facility inspections. No matter the task, I take joy in serving the Lord, supporting our team, and helping church members however I can, even if that means bailing water off the roof!

Outside of work, I’m a proud mom to three amazing kids and a devoted grandma to three precious grandchildren who fill my life with love (and plenty of weekly ice cream adventures). When I’m not spending time with family, you’ll often find me reading, cooking, volunteering as a barista at my home church’s coffee shop, or singing my heart out wherever I go. Serving Jesus, my family, and my community brings me so much happiness, and I’m thankful for every opportunity to do so.
